extract from 'GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE' magazine winter 08 Victoria Australia

Two West Gippsland pony breeders are taking the show world by storm
with great success at this year's Barastoc Horse of the Year Show held at Werribee.Pony Breeder

Liz Carlile of Keira Park in Longwarry North and her palomino colt Keira Park Cascade took out Champion
Junior Derivative Arabian, and Harold Hartlet of Warragul won Barastoc Pinto of the year with Summer
Field Anyanka.Barastoc was held in February and the win added to a string of success for Liz's colt.He later went
on to win Supreme of the show at Rochester Agricultural, beating much more mature and different breeds of animal
.
"He is a special pony. When we are at a show people swarm around him," said Liz. Snow, as he is known
around the stables was recently
sold to New Zealand breeder Lynn Hodgson of Imperial Park on the
South Island. Lynn bought him after viewing a DVD. "When Liz said he had won at two foal shows it was an
indicator he had good confirmationso I bought him." Snow will be shown in New Zealand and already has a
list of mares booked in to be covered. Snow will remain in Australia for another year before flying off to his new home andnew show career. Liz has a knack of producing show-stopping foals and has great success with another pony
Keira Park Midnight Belle recently sold to a new owner in Perth. Belle has the trademark Keira prettiness and also
has won Supreme Championships in her young show career. Liz runs a thoroughbred agistment business from
her 17 acre property in Longwarry North and has been breeding horses for 22 years.
"I love breeding ponies- seeing how well I've matched the stallion with the mare."
